Description of the procedure
With the process of ageing, skin quality deteriorates. Using a fractional ablative laser, we can significantly improve the condition of your skin. The idea of the fractional photothermolysis technique is based on the formation of a network of microscopic injuries of the dermis that are quickly covered by new epidermis (the process of reepithelialisation) from the surrounding undamaged tissues. The laser light, targeting water, efficiently damages the structures containing large amounts of this chromophore, such as keratinocytes (epidermal cells) or collagen. The depth of each column’s penetration depends on the applied energy. Larger doses of energy are used in the treatment of deep acne or surgical scars as well as deep wrinkles. And lower levels of energy are used for surface rejuvenation. After the procedure, the skin becomes smoother, more delicate and looks much younger. A CO2 laser can also be used to remove skin marks, seborrheic warts, fibroids and scars. The procedure is carried out after prior application of anaesthetic cream or an injection.
To obtain good results, 3-4 sessions are recommended with at least 2 month intervals.
Post-treatment recommendations
After the rejuvenation procedure, there will be a reddening and swelling that persist for 5-7 days. A skin rash may also develop. The skin looks like it has received excessive sunlight exposure with typical symptoms of this condition, which subside after a few hours. The use of agents for burn wound care is recommended. You can use foundation cosmetics one day after the procedure. From day 2 after the procedure the skin will be dry, which lasts for 3 to 5 days after the application of moisturisers. After one week, the skin returns to its normal appearance.
The effects are visible after just a few days after the procedure, however, they result from the oedema that masks the wrinkles. The permanent effects of the rejuvenation develop from 4 weeks to 3 months after the procedure as a consequence of new collagen production.
